..Creating job opportunities in the Arts..
OUT with corporate, IN with creative.
We believe that the opportunity to earn a livable wage in a human-centric, handmade-focused, social enterprise is the most successful empowerment tool. Our studio values quality of life, flexibility, community, diversity, and equality.
We measure our social impact, and define SWIET success, in the numbers of jobs we create at home and abroad. The time-intensive, hand-embroidered elements of our wearable art utilize traditional sewing skills and create work opportunities that can easily be done at home with small children or in remote villages.
The vision of swietstuff is to build long-lasting relationships with communities around the world through collaboration on handmade jewelry, costumes, and wearable art.
We started our first international #artWORK project in Santa Lucia, Guatemala, a small mountain pueblo where job opportunities are limited, especially for women with young children and older generations.
The Las Margaritas women's collective was organized by Julia Garcia as a means to empower the women of her community. When we met, the group had formed a network to support their financial and emotional needs, but had not found a project that was generating an income. It was a fateful connection. Now our project has grown to include more women in the community and the #SantaLuciaxSwiet line of jewelry creates fair work opportunities where the women can earn an income in an economy that has limited options.
Your purchase supports our #artWORK programs and makes a real difference in the lives of women and artisans around the world.
